about us
The Nordic Research Network is a network of postgraduate students and early-career researchers based in the British Isles who are conducting Nordic research. Participation is not limited to those working within departments of Scandinavian Studies, and the network seeks to encourage Nordic research in all areas of the humanities and social sciences.
The Nordic Research Network was originally established in 2010 with funding from the AHRC's Student-led Initiatives Scheme, with the grant being used to host the network's first symposium at UCL. Conferences are now held biennially. The 4th edition of the conference was held at the University of Edinburgh on 18-19 February 2015.
A day conference covering the period 500-1500 took place at the University of Glasgow on 4 May 2016, with a partner event for modernists held at IMLR in Senate House, London on 11 November 2016. A full two-day conference was hosted by the University of Aberdeen on 24-25 August 2017.
To date, three edited volumes of papers originally given at NRN conferences have appeared in publication.
